Electric Shaver Leaves Red Bumps
Electric shavers can leave red bumps when the head is dull, dirty, pressed too hard, or used repeatedly over the same spot. Calm the skin and clean up the shaving routine.

The fix
- press a cool washcloth over the bumps for 3 to 5 minutes
- clean the shaver head and remove trapped hair before the next shave
- use lighter pressure and make fewer passes over the same area
- apply salicylic acid on bump-prone areas later in the day, not immediately after shaving
If it’s still not right
- Replace the shaver head if it tugs or takes many passes to cut.
- Let the bumps settle before shaving that area again.
Prevent it next time
- Shave dry skin only if your shaver is made for dry shaving.
- Clean the head after each use so buildup does not scrape the skin.

Why this works
Red bumps are usually a friction response, an ingrown response, or both. Pressing harder often makes the shave look closer for a few minutes, but it also pushes the cutter against skin and increases irritation.
